Hi All!
I’m going to keep this post short and sweet…been a while since I’ve been on the board and posted and of my “smokes”. Heck, it’s been a while since I’ve even fired up the smoker! Needless to say having a child takes priority most of the time!
Anyway, we just celebrated our daughter’s first birthday party over the weekend and had a big blow out party for her! We had about 25 adults and 14 children for the party which was a luau pool party theme. What better for a luau then some pulled pork!
So I purchased three 8-9lbs butts which came to approx. 25lbs total. The butts were rubbed with my pork rub (my rub which is primarily paprika, brown sugar, S&P, garlic powder, red pepper, and cinnamon) , taken to 165 on the smoke, foiled with apple juice, and let them cook till 200-205. I did my cook on Friday (party Saturday), and retained the dripping from the foil pans. The day of the party the meat was reheated on my propane Weber and I added back in the drippings to keep the meat nice and juicy. Sauce was my Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce which was a big hit as always! I think the total weight yielded after the cook was around 16lbs or so.
My wife also made her “loaded” potato salad, pasta salad, meatballs, and a bunch of other appetizers. And like most early child parties...about 6 liters of sangria and coolers stocked with brews! Because at there age...its a party for the parents to celebrate...
As for my daughter…she did a stellar job smashing her cake!!! (pic below). We were so proud of her
Happy Smoken…
RIP
* Note those are the spicy Wicked Pickles Brand pickles...they are awesome!
My Princess with her cake beard ;)
