Hello all,

My name is Bert, and I have never smoked anything in my life, and I can't wait to get started.

I love the taste of barbeque, but there just isn't very many places in my area that serve it. This is forcing me to learn to do it on my own, and since I am pretty lazy by nature, I have decide against sticks and charcoal, and am going to go with a pellet smoker. This should give me what | need, without a larger learning curve about how to control temperatures. I will have enough to worry about with getting the meat seasoned and cooked correctly.

I am pretty much set on getting the Yoder YS480 with the comp cart, grill kit, and smoking kit. This is what was recommended by the dealer, but I am always interested in other opinions. The only downside to this is the wait time to get the darned thing. Once ordered, it will take almost 2 months to arrive. Since I am out of the country for work every other month, this is going to make it a little tricky to get the timing right. The last thing I need is for my wife to have to move a 400 lb smoker from the curb to the back yard. I will need to order it about 2 weeks after I get home, then if all goes well, it will be arriving just after I do.

I look forward to getting to know you guys and gals, and picking your brains from time to time.

Welcome to SMF bertgamble!  Wow, that's quite a wait during prime Q season, though you'll soon do like most of us and smoke year round.

Have fun with the toy when you get it.  There are quite a few pelletheads here who swear by their gear.
