Hey guys I want to thank everyone in advance for the help....
I have been smoking meet for 10+ years now started with a charcoal vertical smoker then added a propane vertical smoker. I smoke about 50 lbs of pork shoulder at a time every Labor Day but the vertical smokers do not hold much want to eliminate the need for 2 smokers as well as have more surface area to do full racks of ribs and full briskets.
I have started an Oil Tank smoker project. I have a 275 oval oil tank and I'm looking at making it a BIG vertical smoker NO offset fire box. The basic plan will be to have 2 doors (left and right) each door will have 4 slide out shelves then below there will be a drip pan then there will be 2 fire boxes that will slide in from the end.
I have laid out the doors, and cut the doors. When I cut the doors the tank warped and the curve in the doors straitened out. To straiten out the tank I welded in some 1-1/4 x 1/8 angle iron at top and bottom of opening. I left about 2" of the tank in tact between doors. The angle iron straitened out the tank. I have burned out the tank and it did not warp any more.
So my question is how to put the curve back in the doors? Right now they do not line up with the hole because since the curve straitened out the doors are about 1" too tall.
I will upload some pics in a bit
