Just ordered a new Pit Barrel Cooker for out here in California.  I live near the ocean so there are some environmental degradation issues that went into my decision to go with Pit Barrel.  I used a Traeger for years at another location and liked the results but I felt the salt air would trouble the electronics and moving parts over time.

I wanted to keep it simple, cost effective, and fun.  My son and I LOVE ribs so that will be our first cook over the 4th of July weekend.  I am really looking forward to making Jerky though.  I have never done it so it should be fun.

This is a great site and I look forward to learning from all of you.  Thanks for you input.

Welcome and good luck with your new addition.  Lots of helpful advice if your ever need it>  The search function above is great to use, and has gotten a lot of use.

Good evening and welcome to the forum, from a windy and rainy day here in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.
