I've been lurking on this site for a little while, because I decided to move up from just smoking ribs and stuff on my big old Weber kettle grill using indirect heat and throwing water-soaked chunks of applewood on the charcoal for smoke, to getting a real smoker so I can increase my variety and frequency of smoked meats.  After reading a lot, I decided to order the same model Masterbuilt 40" electric smoker that Bearcarver has and recommends (20070311), and it should be here in a few days.  I also ordered a 12" AMNTS tube smoker and pellets for it from A-MAZ-N products, because my house is at almost 6,000 feet elevation on the eastern edge of Albuquerque, NM, at the foot of the Sandia mountains, and apparently the AMNS or AMNPS doesn't burn well at higher altitudes.  I'm really impressed with all the detailed smoking recipes and instructions on this site, and I'm looking forward to trying a lot of them!  Happy Smoking!

Good afternoon and welcome to the forum, from a cloudy and rainy looking day in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of               information on just about  everything.  Looking forward to watching your build take shape
