Hi fellow fans of the smoke,

You've won over another British convert.  I lived in the U.S. for a short while (Fla) and have for many years been lucky enough to work alongside your military personnel who very quickly introduced me to the delights of REAL Barbeque!  The downside has been that I hate being invited to UK BBQ's now.  Burned chicken drumstick does not a bbq make!

I built myself a UDS and having been getting great results!  So far I have made oak smoked brisket (my personal favourite), as well as applewood smoked pork shoulder and applewood smoked chicken, this was a bit too smokey for my taste but it is a work in progress!

Well, that's enough about me, I'm off to explore the forums!

Cheers

Patch, welcome to SMF!  Glad to hear you are a Q-fanatic.  Soon people will quit inviting you to their BBQs, expecting you to invite them to yours!  Be sure to check out the "Groups" section at the top of the page and join the UK Smokers group, which will be 145 members strong with you.  They are quite an active bunch of smokers.

Have fun with the UDS.

Ray

Thanks Ray,

I'll check out the Brits section of the Forum and see if I can get myself and invite around their BBQ parties!

Thanks Gary,

I've been on this page for about three hours straight so far.  Information overload!  Love it!

Hello.  I missed this one.  Thanks again Ray.  We may have to put you on the payroll.

Hello Patch and Welcome to our addiction.  Many good folks here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have, and pictures help a bunch.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  Check out Jeff’s 5 day smoking E-Course ( link below ) that will help you get started.  Couple other good threads to help you get started included.  We look forward to your contributions.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!

Danny

Hi Smokin Monkey,

Thanks for the invite to the BBQ weekend, I'll certainly attend that one as it's just up the road from me.

I'm not too far from you actually.  I live in a small village called Bottesford, near Grantham.

Be looking forward to seeing your post and pics.

Gary
