I finally got around to trying to figure out what went wrong with my MES 40. Guess what I found at the heating element connection.take the 5 minutes it will take you to check your connections.

I guess that the loose connection caused corrosion and eventually completely burned through the connection. It is now a big blob of melted metal.

That is never good. Hopefully you can fix it and get up and running again.

That is great news.

There has been a lot of Masterbuilt warranty bashing this week but your case proves once again that they take care of their customers.

If they don't monitor it than they are crazy. Masterbuilt is probably the most talked about manufacturer on this site (both good and bad).

+1 For Masterbuilt stepping up.  Gives me some comfort while I look for a MES.

Good deal..... Looks like you have a spare SS smoker box now.... Are you going to fix the old one and keep the new one tucked away....

im not sure what I'll do yet. It would be a shame to throw the old body away. I might have to make a cold smoker out of it for my bacon and cheese.

WOW!!!!!!! Is about all I can say is when it comes to their service. When my smoker went out I thought I was in for a battle. After a few emails they said they were going to send me a new body to transfer all my extra parts too. ( door, grills, computer etc. ). Last night UPS guy shows up as I am getting home from work and asks if I want it delivered to the garage behind the house. I told him it should be fine ill just carry it through the front door. He says " Are you sure? Its a big box and weighs 60 lbs. " I definitely didnt expect what I saw when I opened the box. They sent me a ENTIRELY BRAND NEW SMOKER !!!
I am now a Masrebuilt guy for life. All I can say is WOW. Now my only problem is deciding what to smoke in my first cook with a new smoker :) .
