New (used) addition!

So by some struck of luck I found a guy 20 miles from me selling his 2yr old WSM 18.5" for $150.  Found his ad the night he posted and sent him an email the next morning.  Within 24hrs had it in the van rolling home! I don't think its ever been cleaned is the only draw back.  I'm trying to decide if I want to fill the wash tub with hot water and Dawn and let the two grates and water bowl soak for a few hours or dump a bag of charcoal in it first and let it burn at high hot temps for a few hours THEN scrape, soak and scape again.  Either way i don't care.  I'm just pumped I was able to get this deal and add an 18.5" WSM to my stable to supplement a giant smoke when my WSM 22.5" is full or just to be able to pull out the smaller guy to do a side or a little brisket flat.  PUMPED!

Screw it, gonna go fill the wash tub and start soaking.

I've owned mine for 5 or 6 years and never washed it.  Just brush down the grates.  If you wash it you are probably going to need to re-season it.

nah, just baking, scraping and washing the grill grates and water pan.  Places where food makes contact.  I let the smoker run for a few hours with no water pan.  Pegged the lid thermometer so I know it was pretty warm for quite a while.  After dinner that night I covered the grill grates in the wash sink with Dawn and hot water.  Scrubbed them clean with a couple rags the next morning, sprayed them with cooking oil and set them aside while I scrubbed the water pan in Dawn and hot water.  I wire brushed out the inside of the body and put 'er all back together.  Ready for its first real run as mine this coming Friday.  Probably thaw a brisket flat and plop a couple pork butts on there and feed some neighbors.
