Long time lurker and first time poster! I'm hailing from Tasmania, Australia and am a huge fan of smoking and use SMF on a regular basis. I am an Apple Cider producer to have access to a lot of Stainless Kegs and have built a couple of upright smokers with them. While I have been able to cut my teeth on these, the biggest restriction is the size so It's time to upgrade.
I have always liked the principle of using general use, low cost items to make things. I also have a few 55 Gallon (44 Gallon here in Aus) drums and have been toying with the idea if making a reverse flow with one as the cooking chamber and a keg as the firebox.
Using the Feldon Pit Calculator, I've come up a bit short on the fire box size compared to the cook chamber.
So with it sitting at 81% of the recommended fire box size, is there anyway around this or should I be looking to re design with a bigger firebox?
