Strawberry Season is finally here!  The ones I got to use yesterday are from a local Strawberry Farm.  I had 6 ----gallon baskets of those beautiful berries.  My Daughter helped me cut about half of them before she went out on a date.  I finally finished about midnight with 9 pint jars of Strawberry Jam....and about 10 pounds that I put in the freezer for later.  Mondays are my days to do huge kitchen stuff...being canning or a smoke-a-thon.

These are just gorgeous!

Ready to start cooking down!

First batch of jars....all popped!

Here is a close up of the jars!

Thank you for looking!

That looks awesome and I'm sure tastes even better. I may do some Blackberry Jelly this year not sure yet but looks like there may be a bumper crop of wild blackberries here this year

Those look delicious, Kat!  We love fresh jams and preserves, and strawberry is one of my favorites!

Blackberry jam is my total favorite!  I am going to do some when the berries come in season here.  Even have my Grandmother's "thingy" (don't know what to call it) to squish the seeds out!

Now, anybody getting a jar of that HAS to appreciate the amount of labor involved. Loads of blackberries here still in the NW and I'm fortunate to have them growing along my front fence line. Strawberries USED to be a major crop here, much grown for Smuckers & the like but, like many things, have been replaced by crops needing less care. I'm planning on some blackberry wine this year...have the jugs & air-locks ready to go. Good job on the jam...it's a very rewarding feeling to be able to do that. I use the old food mill to get out the seeds...makes for a nice smooth consistency.

How much sugar in this jam??

I might trade ya something for some!!!

Very nice Kat!

Hopefully one of these days I'll get my act together and do some canning also.

That looks great. One of these days I need to get the necessities to Can stuff. Grandma, 22 years gone, would make Grape Jam from any Grapes Grandpa didn't make into Wine. That was the Best. She canned anything else she could get out of their huge garden too...JJ

The recipe is 1 lb of berries to 1.5 cups of sugar.  That is the only ingredients.  Holler at me,,,,we could work it out!

Thanks everyone....I love doing this....simple but good stuff for my family.  AND....a great stress reliever too!  Lots of work...and I love it.

Wow that looks good! I wish we could get good strawberries around here. All we get are those giant half white ones that taste like faintly strawberry flavored styrofoam. If you have a spare jar I'd love to trade you a jar of BBQ sauce for one!

Those look nice, we always make the freezer type strawberry jelly, I don't mind the canning, I do get slightly upset when it doesn't work. I now do mostly zip locks and freezer, wish you were here I could load you up with jelly jars, pints, pint and a half and quart jars. The Dew berries are in here now and looks like a good crop this year.

I gave my Dad some Dewberry plants about 15 years ago, he planted 'em next to the chainlink fence behind the chicken yard, only like 8 springs. They now own about 20 ft x 100 ft x15 ft, if you get some and plant 'em then make sure its a confined space. Huge concrete walls maybe! They die off a lot due to the arial spraying of the cane fields, but they never go away or quit expanding!

Back to strawberries, I have started making Strawberry Liqueur. I made 5 gallons this year and 2 are already taken. LOL Simple, easy, tasty, even the church ladies like it (that is where the 2 gallons are going LOL). Takes maybe 3 to 5 months for it to smooth out, but then its really good stuff

You should try it, its OMG gud! I also made last year peach, pineapple, strawberry, cherry (it wasn't too good), Praline, Butter pecan, Tia Maria, even Bailey's caramel. I just started this stuff last year and as usual went over board. But when you have extra fresh fruit its just too easy. I love a big shot of the peach in a tall glass of sweet tea.

My hats off to you, those look like some good jelly
