Hello,
I have had my Brinkmann for over two years, and I use it at least once a week. It has never rained on my smoker, and it is always covered with it's own vented brinkmann-brand cover, but it is still showing areas of rust. It started a few months ago, but last week I had an 18 hr session of continuous smoking, and the result... other than an incredible brisket... is that the firewood chamber is now completely rusted.
Very often I have used oil on the steel to kind of "cure" the smoker, but it just seems like it does not work.
I'm sure my only option now is to re-paint with car-engine paint of some sort, but the question is, how can I prevent the steel from rusting under normal use and care...
I have a weird relationship with my grill, so it hurts me to see it rust.
Greetings...
