Well, sort of. 

Based on reviews on this site, Amazon.com, and the price, I was eyeballing a small Masterbuilt propane smoker.  I just happened to be at Home Depot for another project, when I wandered through the grill section.  They had one lonely Masterbuilt smoker sitting there, and it was the model that I was considering.  What are the chances!?  I decided to wait in favor of more research, but before I got to the end of the aisle, the cold finger of fate wagged at me and said, "ohhh no you don't.... go baaaaacckkk."

So I did.  I went to HD for a light and came home with a smoker.  :P

Even though it's still in the box, I feel like I'm already a step up from newbie. 

Now, to find a butcher shop....

Congrats on the new purchase, being a newbie here as well I have found the search bar at the top to be the best thing for finding ideas and recipes. If you don't find what ya want just ask there are so many helpful people here it is ridiculous...enjoy

Yes it can, in a hurry. I keep telling myself it's all "up front" cost like most other new hobbies. How long can I keep saying that???? 6 months ago I had a BGES and nothing more, it all started with an AMNPS purchase from Todd....

I oiled it down really well, threw in some oak chips I had handy, and fired it up for the first time to get the seasoning started.  The oak chips went up like match sticks! 

So, after 400 degrees for 30 min, I let it cool, then oiled it down again.  This time, I put in some oak chips that I had soaked in water for about 45 min. I just got it up to about 400 again, and peeked in the lower vent.  The chips are smoldering!  I think I have TBS this time, it's so exciting!   :D
