So I put my 8lb boneless pork butt up last night using my MES 30 and a loaded AMZNPS. Got up this morning, butt at 165, pellet tray all ashes. Good so far. Foil up the butt, reload tray and go pull my brisket from fridge. After the pellets get going I go to smoker. Smoker temp is down to 113. WTF? Heating element died. So I fired the oven up to 225 for the butt and lit my weber grill up for the brisket. I'm not going to get the same amount of smoke out of the weber.
So disappointed right now. Can anyone offer any suggestions? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would ask the guys in the electric smoker part of the forum.....this has happened to others....they can give you some help.

Hey Nabo,

Do you have the analog or digital MES30?  If it's the analog be sure that your controller is plugged into the smoker good.  This could cause the problem you described.  If you had the digital, try turning it off and unplugging the unit, wait a minute, plug it back in and see if it works.  If none of this works give Masterbuilt customer service a call.  They are really helpful and very customer service oriented.

You might also unplug the unit and check to make sure your heating element connections are good.

Good luck,

Bill

My advice....Get a charcoal smoker such as the WSM and never worry about any electronic parts again!
