I am building a smoker (vertical cabinet 20" x 24" x 6') and after reading some threads on here have seen many opinions that amazen products are the cats meow.  Well I'm sold but I am wondering what amazen smoker would best suit that size cabinet.  Do the pellet smoker and the tube smokers put off about the same amount of smoke?  Or is it possible I would need to use two smokers in that size of an area.  Any insight to this would be great!

Thanx Adam

Pops6927 Built a similar sized smoke house and mounted a mail box with 1 AMNPS on the side. You may want to shoot him a PM for details...JJ

Adam, morning and welcome to the forum....  I have the pellet AMNPS....  I use it is a MES 30 electric smoker... It works very well....  Depending on your fuel source, propane for instance, flame will consumer the smoke and it is gone... to overcome that situation, introducing the smoke above the flame is a must....  Thin wispy smoke gives the best flavor..... too much smoke is bitter....   If necessary, the AMNPS can be lit from both ends putting out twice the smoke...  Stronger tasting woods can be used also for more smoke flavor...

To answer you question, I think the tube smoker puts out at least twice as much smoke as the AMNPS from what Todd has said on occasion... The AMNPS will allow for flexibility...   You can always buy a 2nd AMNPS in the future if lighting both ends doesn't give the results you are looking for...

My recommendation.... Buy 1 AMNPS and an assortment of pellets...  Do something similar to the mailbox mod for it to sit in....   Enjoy the Thin Blue Smoke and NO creosote flavor of the meat...

I did a thread on the mailbox mods.... click on the link below.... Pops is included in the thread along with other members mods....

I have a vertical smoker similar in size to yours, 23 1/2" X 23 1/2" X 6' that I use a AMNPS5X8 in and am very happy with. I like that I can light one or both ends to control the amount of smoke.

So your saying the amnps needs to be placed above the the propane, because the flame absorbs all the smoke??  I was hoping to put it right at the bottom where the vent will be located but its looking like I may need a external box, I was hoping to get by without that but oh well just more to play with.

The flame will burn some of the smoke if it passes thru

Try it without an external box first, and then make one if you need to
