Just joined and wanted to take a minute to introduce myself.
My name is Andy, and I'm from Gadsden, AL. I have two favorite past times: photography and BBQ. The two often travel together as I love to make images of all the wonderful food that comes off the grill!
Growing up, my favorite thing ever was for my dad to BBQ. He never got deep into learning about it or smoking meats, but it was always the BEST food ever. He just had this sort of natural knack. As I got older, I developed a love for it myself. I enjoy building a fire and producing something that makes people happy (and fills them up). As with anything I enjoy, I always try to learn more and more about it. I'm never satisfied and I always strive to find ways to improve.
I love finding "indoor" recipes and adapting them to the grill. I have yet to find a food that isn't made better when cooked with fire or introduced to smoke. I love grilling unusual items that aren't typically grilled.
As with photography, I love pushing my equipment to it's full potential. I use a Weber One Touch silver. Of course, I was told that ya can't smoke on it, you can't do this, can't do that. Thanks to places like this forum and other social networks of great BBQ'ers I'm able to prove those thoughts wrong. Granted, there are easier ways, but I'm often more fond of the "hard road" as it gives a great sense of accomplishment!
As always, however, there is more to learn, which brings me to this forum! I've browsed around a good bit and I'm glad to be a new member to to community. I look forward to learning and hopefully sharing my own knowledge!
