Hello Smoking Meatheads!
My name is Aaron and I am a Software Engineer from New Bedford, MA. Not too many smokers out here so I'm looking for a community to share recipes with and learn everything I can.
Just purchased a new Masterbuilt 30" Digital/Electric Smokehouse with window and RF and I plan to break it in tomorrow with some brisket.
I have never smoked meat personally but I have been around enough to not be terrified of my first experience.
To start experimenting for wood I bought:
Hickory, Pecan, Apple, Cherry, and Alder
I think for my first Brisket attempt I will use a mixture of ~75% Pecan and ~25% Hickory
Any advice on the wood mixture and/or how often do I need to add more chips? Also, I could use advice on injections. should I just add my rub to a water/vinegar/oil mixture?
