Just found a lonely little tree with some gorgeous persimmons on it...just begging me to rescue them.  Any ideas on what to do with them?

What variety of persimmons do you have?  The pointed one is Hachiya and must be fully ripe for eating. Another type is flat and called Fuyu.

Fuyu is eaten firm like an apple. From the picture I think I see both.

These all came from the same little "Charlie Brown" tree...and are like a small tomato or peach size.

My wife buys about 40 lbs of the flat ones (Fuyu)  from the local farmers market every Fall. She will peel, slice and dehydrate them. When sealed into 6oz bags they make nice gifts. I guess the only way to determine which type you have is to take a small bite of a firm one. If can do that and say your name afterwards, you have the Fuyu (flat) variety.

Oh.....I so remember my 1st bite of a unripe one. Lol! Will let ya know. Working on more apple butter right now.

Leave them on the tree, set up a blind, shoot the deer that come to eat them, and make grilled medalions from the back straps. LOL.  Deer LOVE persimmons. I normally try to find one with a trail nearby to set my blind or spot to place a climbing stand.

Bama BBQ...that would be a great idea...but we live in a subdivision...don't think the neighbors would appreciate that. LOL

I did some checking on the variety of persimmons...and these are the Fuyu ones.
