Deep-frying a turkey is definitely my favorite route to go for any sort of occasion such as parties, holidays (not just Thanksgiving!), or any other sort of outdoor get together.  Deep-fried turkeys are always juicy and moist and I love to add a brine before frying for that extra kick!

Tell me a little about what you think?  Have you tried this cooking method before?  If not you should because it is definitely worth it!

Simply amazing!!!!!

I have heard of smoking a bird, then frying it. Was going to try it this year on a small one to see how it tastes...

Smo-fried birds are great. I smoke mine to an internal of 145-150 then drop them into already heated 350 degree oil to finish them up. I don't do smo-fried every time I do turkeys but when I do they are always a big hit. I sometimes cook for a crowd and I find people will try a little of the smoked bird a little of the fried bird and a little of the smo-fried bird and if they go back for more it's almost always the smo-fried bird they go back for. If they've had it before they go straight for it over the other birds

how long do you need to fry after the smoking to get 180* in the thigh? (per lb.) I would love to try this!
