So, My son and I left here about 12:30 to go pick up lunch today. There was a benefit for one of his classmates today, unfortunately his mom past away earlier this week. When we showed up to pick up the food, there were people leaving because they had sold out of all of the jambalaya already….but were cooking on there 2nd batch….So we asked of they needed any help, within 45 minutes we went from picking up lunch, to cooking with them….  I met a bunch of great people and hopefully some new friends today…..They sold around 400 plates of jambalaya and with donations raised over $5,000.00 to help this young man with expenses…..This is how it should be !!! I had a great time, met some new people and hope I made a difference in someone’s life today……:) Had a great day !!!!

Thats awesome. Great thing you did

Thanks everyone, I’ve been wanting to get back into cooking for a while now, I just didn’t expect it to happen like that…We had a good time and helped a good cause …..I’ve been approved to cook for non-profit in the town I live in for a while now. I’m going to call Tuesday to see about getting my insurance lined up…..Just in case it happens again, I will be ready to go...

Great work!!!

 Ummm where's the pichers???

hahahahahaha

:th_nopicsye3: LOL... But on the serious side... that's awesome... and a good learning experience for your son... If your son turns out anything like you.. the world will be blessed

Great job Shoney!  Cooking for a non-profit, what a great idea. I'm sure that they could always use your talent and experience, and it gives you and the family time together.  Keep up the good work!

Thanks again, I look at what some of you do and just took a page from that book….A lot of you have inspired me to try new and different things since I have joined this forum. I hope to be an inspiration to others, so if it they can ever help someone, they will !! especially my son and daughter…..About the pictures….Well, unfortunately we were is such a hurry to get back, there was 1 thing we forgot to pick up when we came back to the house and that was the camera…….So sorry…….and I will be the first person to say

Great gift dude!...JJ

My son told me last night and I’m proud to announce, his buddy posted on FaceBook that he was so happy, he had raised enough money to pay for all of his mother’s funeral expenses…..It is a double edge sword for me…… I’m proud to have been a part of helping this young man, but I know that there is going to be others that will be put in this same situation…….The thought of this has been weighing heavy on my mind since Sunday. I’ve wanted to start a non-profit company to raise money for situations just like this for a while now, but this day and time how do you make the decision of who to help first? I know that there are places like the Red Cross and others that do wonderful work, but they work on such a larger scale, I feel that an individual in a situation like this would have slipped through their cracks ……..
