I got the cheapest one at home depot. Did some modding by adding a big green egg gasket around the side of the lid to lower smoke leak and drilled some hole on the  top and added a cover. Also purchased a cheap weber smokey joe and replaced it with the charcoal pan of the ecb.

Although it works nice, I have trouble controlling the temperature. Closing the vent hole on the weber doesnt seem to lower or even hold the temperature. Im guessing this is due to the open area around the weber smokey joe and the ecb. (Fairly annoying due to the fact that I want to smoke a lot more salmon)

Has any of you found a way to close that or decrease that space?

but I am looking for other options as I cant buy the copper coil per feet, but at minimum of 30 feet around my area.

Would using this be safe?


Planning to stick it on side of weber smokey joe, wont be touching direct flames.

Opinions or suggestions appreciated.
