First run at a tri tip

This will be my first run at smoking a Tri Tip Roast, so lets start out with a stupid question.  Is it ok to apply the rub on the night before, will be using a very basic Santa Maria Rub.  Will try to remember to take pix.

Yes you can rub the night before - I do it all the time with mine. I smoke them to 125-130 wrap in foil then wrap the foil in a big towel to rest for 30 min to an hour
