Hi there folks. I've been lurking around here for a while and thought I'd come out of the shadows. My name's Daniel and I'm a transplanted Texan living in Colorado. Two years after I moved here, I gave up on the search to find decent BBQ and decided that I might as well start making my own.
Up until this week, I've used a cheapo barrel smoker with an electric element added. It's served its purpose, but it's not really built for the temps here. Especially this time of year, I would have nightmares about poisoning an entire family with a turkey that sat in the smoker for too long.
Last week, bought a vertical gas smoker made by Cajun Injector. I cranked about 60 pounds of meat through it this weekend -- mostly turkeys for coworkers. I still consider myself a novice, but now that I've improved my equipment a little, I'm ready to improve my BBQ game, too. I'll smoke just about anything that will sit still long enough. I love brisket and pork ribs and this summer I tried my hand at grinding, stuffing and smoking my own sausage.
Anyways, great to be around here and I look forward to learning from you folks. I'll post a pic of my new rig. It's not much, but I have high hopes for it and I'm really proud to have moved on from my old one.
