    What's your occupation?

I'm a team leader for the National Trust  (there isn't a US equivalent, but its about like leading a National Park ranger team).  However i'm thinking about going out on my own as a landscape contractor. I'm also a writer - although i'm yet to get published, and a sometime wedding photographer

    The mini booster!

cool , i'll do that to start with - i can always add something more robust later  (although thinking about it i think I've seen a cast iron pie dish in the garage - that would be more robust - although harder to cut)

    The mini booster!

Old thread i know, but i just had a random idea ... for a quick and simple booster could you take an 8" stainless steel dog bowl and cut the bottom out ? I may have to try this...  (i'll post pictures etc if i do)

    2017 Smokers Weekend

I'm interested but i will have to say maybe at the moment as we are working two team members down at the moment (I'm the team leader)  and its on the insane side of batshit crazy...  As things stand i have no idea whether i'll be free or not.

Debating a UDS build. Advice needed!

I'm new to the forum and i may be talking out of my arse (don't worry i'm used to it) but from what i can see you don't have to have a welder to build a UDS or a miniWSM (or a big WSM) , or probably most other types I'm new to smoking - but i'm not new to building stuff out of junk, and my...

is there a good reason not to use a 60L barrel in a MiniWSM build ?

that's the intention Joel .. i'll probably start a new thread in the builds forum on the main board, but i'll put a link here.  I'm currently assembling the bits... Ive found a supplier with cheap barrels so i'm getting a small (60-70L) one and a couple of big ones so i can try a UDS build, as...

Are you ready to rumble!!!!! March 2017 Throwdown time!!!

as a man with no sense of caution, I may be in, if I've built my smoker in time.  If not I'll be in next month instead  (okay so I've never smoked anything more adventurous than a piece of fish in a biscuit tin, but faint heart never won fair  ... um.. prizes

    Roll Call

thanks for the welcome wade - I love building stuff so the ready made options aren't really my thing - I just scored a second hand smokey joe on ebay for about 30 notes, so I'm definitely going the Mini route first ... although i suspect it could be the first of many ... i just need to find a...

is there a good reason not to use a 60L barrel in a MiniWSM build ?

cool - I've just scored a  second hand Weber Smokey Joe on ebay so i'll wait til I've picked that up and confirmed the measurements, but it looks like it should work. I'm guessing i'll need to burn off the paint on the barrel before i can use it, and burn out the liner - that should be no...

is there a good reason not to use a 60L barrel in a MiniWSM build ?

So I'm getting the parts together to build my first MWSM ... I'm having great difficulty finding a pot for a reasonable price -  theres lots of them on ebay f but then you've got the same again in shipping and import tax which puts them in silly money terriitory  - same for UK sourced stock pots...
