    Hi I've posted about heating element and thank you for the input.. I've chosen the brinkman 1500w That I'll run with an aub pid and get smoke from the amns for now. I've started removing plastic from the fridge and am planning on keeping the fiberglass insulation for now. (Want to get smoking!)...

    I suppose I'm somewhat retentive, I'd like my smoker to be able to hold temp in the low range 100's and be able to dial it to 225 with little fuss... and be repeatable. The pid seems like the grail..... I guess I'm willing to spend a little extra to satisfy my wish...

    So using wall mount element. Does that cause clearance issues, and would you want to put a deflector over it. I'd swing towards the finned strip heater but don't want to burn it out. I'm willing to sorting for the dual probe auber, and if the strip heater is better I'll go that way.

    I can't tell does that brink man come with thermostat? I'm not getting a pie right away. The fridge I acquired is an old fridgedair, only 5 feet high... Was planning on amns for smoke to start with. When you mount element to side do you out great shield over it?

    Hello all, I'm Troy and hail from WA state. Avid outdoors enthusiast and chaser of wildlife. Lurked around in the past.... Looking to build a fridge smoker for making sausage and maybe she pork butts.. Had a fridge lined out, but the chickens claimed it. Thinking about use the auber controller...
