100# Propane Cylinder Reverse Flow Build Assistance

The burn in/clean out went well. I stoked the fire and ran the unit at 450 degrees F for an hour. Then let it cool down. To night I am going to run a practice burn/season it. In prep for the morning. I have added a shelf and painted it since the last picture. Below is the finished smoker...

    Yoder Cheyenne

Just stuff I picked up on reading tons of threads. I have seen a bunch of times that the the temp will even out if plate is 1.5 to 2.5 inches from the firebox/firebox baffle. It doesn't make scenes having that big of a gap but people were amazed by the difference. Sent from my iPhone using...

100# Propane Cylinder Reverse Flow Build Assistance

Well, I couldn't seem to get any help so I pressed on. Did my first burn in on my smoker. Still needs to be cleaned up and painted but boy did it work great. It was easy to bring up to temp and get TBS. Below are a series of pics during the build.

100# Propane Cylinder Reverse Flow Build Assistance

UDS heat deflectors - What are you using?

Like many said, I use a cheap 16in pizza pan from Walmart.  I drilled holes in it.  The temp is more even across the whole cooking area.

Is this drum safe for UDS build?

I'm sure there will be varying opinions but my opinion is yes it is safe.  As long as you do a good hot burn out of the drum. My drum that I just built was used for aviation grease no liner.  It was clean when I bought it for $25 dollars.  I found 4 pallets at the local recycling center that I...

    UDS Question - Cold Weather

Well, I dont think I will need to worry about cold weather cooking.  I did my seasoning/test burn yesterday. A few stats about the final UDS configuration. 3@ 1inch black pipe vents with 2@ ball valves and one cap. 3 inches up from the bottom of the drum 16x10ish charcoal basket made out of...
