looking to do some wings this weekend, i am looking for a good finishing sauce for it, i have tried dry rubs, bbq sauce all is good. but i want to try something different maybe a sweet sauce or maybe a sweet and little heat sauce ( wife does not care for heat in the sauce) i made a honey sauce before, looking for some suggestions.

thanks

I would try Jeff's sauce with a little honey and apple juice. You can adjust the proportions until you get the consistency that you want. Another way would be to mix the honey and apple juice, then add Jeff's rub until you get it where you like it.

Good luck, Joe

Maple Cider Wings

1/2C Real Maple Syrup

1/4C Apple Cider or Juice

1T Hot Sauce

1T Mild Rub (Below)

1/2 Stick Butter

1T Spicy Brown Mustard (optional)

Place all except Butter is a sauce pan and simmer until syrupy and thickened. Let cool 5 minutes. Cut the Butter into pats and whisk in 1 or 2 pats at a time until melted in. Repeat until all the butter is incorporated. Coat Wings

Mild Bubba Q Rub  (All Purpose)

1/2C Sugar in the Raw (Turbinado)

2T Sweet Paprika (Hungarian)

1T Kosher Salt

1T Chili Powder* (contains some Cumin and Oregano) Ancho Chile is same without cumin, oregano etc.

1T Granulated Garlic

1T Granulated Onion

1tsp Black Pepper, more if you like

1/2tsp Grnd Allspice

For more heat add Cayenne or Chipotle Pwd to taste, start with 1/2tsp and go from there. Makes about 1 Cup

Note*...Some Chili Powders can be pretty Hot. McCormick and Spice Island are Mild...

I made a sauce this past weekend I really liked. Like you, I was wanting something a little different.

1 stick butter

1 cup Franks Red Hot

1/4 cup honey

2 TBS BBQ sauce

1 TBS CBP

I just microwaved until butter melted and sauce was warm

(the honey cuts the heat down. Can add cayenne as desired)
