Hey y'all!  I joined up because I've been smoking ribs and chicken every chance I get since I got my new-to-me analog electric smoker.  But, while those usually come out pretty good, I'm stepping up my game to brisket this weekend for my mother-in-law's 50th birthday party and I wanted to post a log about what I do and how it comes out and hopefully get some advice along the way.  The thread is under moderation, so hopefully it'll pop up soon.

I'm in New Jersey, close to Atlantic City.  I have a Masterbuilt Electric Smoker (model 20070612).  I'm getting the bug, so I'm sure I'll be upgrading eventually.  But, hopefully this thing is capable of doing a good enough job for the time being.

Anyway, wish me luck, and hopefully I'll be able to share some smoking adventures (fails and success) from which I can learn and maybe someday even teach something to a newb like me.

Humm...what else?  I'm in my mid-30's.  My wife has kiddo in the oven, due February -- our first (it'll learn to like smoked stuff, too, lol).  I'm a computer science major and work for a local contracting company writing software.  I like cars (and lately I've been hitting the local track as much as I can), music (wish I could play something that wasn't plastic (Rockband, lol)), and keep trying to cook despite the many fails I've had, lol.  I'm also into audio/video stuff, which I totally geek out on.  Wish I was mechanically inclined so I could finish our basement with a theater room, alas I just crowd the living room with all "my junk" as the wife likes to call it, lol.

So...that's me.

Good afternoon and welcome to the forum, from a nice day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Thanks guys, hope to make lots of good meals y'alls help.  At the very least, I'm sure I'll contribute by showing others what not to do, lol.
