Hello all ....

I am looking forward to playing around with smoking. But before doing that I will read in depth the material on this forum to make sure I don't make anything that will get any body ill.

I fish locally for salmon, perch, halibut, and rock fish. I want to start smoking my fish, then move into smoking other meats.

My plan is build a system were I can do hot smoke or cold smoke using the following:

Currently I cook outdoors using the following:
-BBQ, like everybody else

-dutch ovens with briquettes
-over open fires (both in my back yard and when camping)
-shrimp boils & crab when in season
-deep frying (then use the oil in my sprinter van)

Welcome!

Do us a favor and post pics of whatever you decide to build. If only my entire family wasn't allergic to fish in general...I'll live vicariously through you.

Wow .... thanks everybody for the support and comments.

I am very technically savy so posting pictures won't be a problem. Although most of my content will most likely reside on my home blog. Its a server in my house that I backup every week. So when I make posts to that I will cross post to this forum with links if that's okay.

Maybe we can work out a deal. I am a fisherman and catch, vacumm bag and freeze. Maybe I can give you some fish if you help me learn how to smoke???
