Wintertime is coming here in Michigan and I've been rolling around ideas for smoking in the winter. Been reading the different threads here on this topic and seems like there are some good options. I'm still undecided whether to do vented electric indoors or insulated propane cabinet outdoors. Which got me thinking I technically already have an insulated gas cooker in the form of an old natural gas kitchen oven that isn't doing anything along with an outdoor gas connection.

Are old gas ovens adequate to do some hot smoking? I'm also wondering how much the low temps will affect it. Any input would be appreciated as I weigh the options to feed my addiction this winter.
