>>>3.50? Oh man I'm getting one right away then. Can't beat that price with a stick<<<

that was clearance at the end of summer, probably pay 7$ now, but still worth it!

For the fun of it, I looked at and priced the electric conversion deal. There's no way to adjust heat, that doesn't seem like it would work good anyway. Sounds like it's just 'on' all the time. So if the weather is hot or cold, I wouldn't be able to adjust. That's a weird design. I guess I better start making those mods

ron - i think you will enjoy the versatility of the charcoal ECB after making the mods. you will be able to cuxtomize your technique and method accoridng to weather, the food you are cooking etc. and will get a sense of actually participating in the process.

i have a little chief electric smoker that i use for jerky, cheese and a few other things. it is great for those things but there is kind of a "plug it in and forget it" feel to it that takes away from the experience. works PERFECT for cheese, tho!

make the mods and enjoy - gives you a chance to use a few tools, too!

Good point, I do enjoy farting around with the bbq and stuff and participating like you said. And using tools, see now that's always fun. I'm one of those 'jury-rig' type people anyway so it will be fun. I just feel weird drilling on my new little smoker!

On a side note, I looked at them at Lowes, they were 65.00, checked Walmart and got it for 37.00!!! Talk about a good deal! If anyone else is looking for one, check old Walmart, total bargain there right now.
