Hatinng to run out of gas in the middle of a smoke, I'm considering plunking down $20 or so for a propane tank gas gauge. The Gaslow and Flameking seem to be the most widely sold? Anyonr have any experience with them -- or another brand?

    Thanks. [IMG]

I have one that screws right into the valve(not sure what brand it is right now)and find it to be quite accurate.
I would say go for it!

Be careful of the ones that have the plastic coupler/handle, they have been known to crack when you tighten them down or in cold weather they might get brittle. Good luck and let use know what your findings/purchases are, always good to get some feedback on a product.

I just checked, and it is a Gaslow and has three lines to go with the outside temperature.Cold day, cool day and hot day.
Mine is older so it does not have the plastic screw on.
It has the smaller threads that go inside the valve like they do when filling the tank.
    Hope this helps.

I watched a friend fight with a series of crummy guages. My approach was to invest the money in a second bottle. Now if there is a problem I am back up and running immediately. I happen to use a wireless thermo that lets me know when the heat drops so I have that base covered. Might not work for you, but sure has for me.

    I totally agree with Skip!

Every time the subject comes up I preach spare tank, spare tank, spare tank.

What if you have gas left in your only tank but not enough for a smoke? Get a spare tank and run them out before refilling.

    Good luck!

    Cheers!

Skip wins the prize, I have a gauge and 2 extra tanks. Well ones for the grill and the other one is for who ever runs out first.

Bottles are only $28 at WalMart .... I'd rather have a spare bottle or two
