I've been lurkin for a week or so and have picked up a lot of great info. I have been grilling ribs (over direct heat, not smokin) for about 15 years in a small local competition with 15-25 cooks and have rented a grill every year. Actually took peoples choice several years but only won the big daddy once.

After reading a lot of the threads (especially ColeySmokinBBQ's threads and drawings) I was ready to build. Only problem is time and talent

! So now I am looking at buying a Lang model 60. I am trying to decide now if I need the deluxe warmer option or not.

Thoughts???

Damn boy!! Go big or go home ay??

Tonto and Bud have a Lang, theyll tell you nothing but good things about it! I've cooked with em 3 times now and havent used that warmer once, but ask their opinions first.Good luck in your decision and keep us updated!

Bubba - I figure while I've got the money now and my wife is all for it, better go as big as I can afford. Might not come around again in that combination.

I also cook for a few charities cooking an average of 300 burgers, 150 dogs and 200 lbs of chicken. Ususally not all at the same time though. So big makes more time for the brews. After all brews, Q's and friends are made for each other.

Welcome to SMF Ga. RoadHog!!! The Lang 60 is a nice pit and those who have it speak very highly. If you haven't already, maybe a call to Ben Lang would be in order to help make up your mind.

Talked with Ben this morning and placed my order

. I went with the Mod 60 without the warmer. He said there is a 3 week turn around so we wait...

Sorry I hadn't seen this before, welcome to the SMF Ga.RoadHog. We love our Lang, as far as the warmer/cooker is concerned, it's a great feature. We haven't cooked in it but have monitered the inside temp and could if we needed to, just find that the pit(barrel) is big enough for our needs. I'm thinking it will really come in handy once I start doing more catering for anything I might need it for...cooking or just keeping things warm. We also had a chargriller put on the front which really comes in handy.

Ben is a great guy, glad you had a chance to chat with him....don't hesitate to call him if you have addtional questions. He was wonderfull to work with.

Here is a pic of ours. Just click the thunbnail to enlarge.

Welcome Ga.RoadHog! You can't go wrong with the Lang... that's the model I want to get... and I probably will get the warmer.

Keep us posted on your decision!
