Sad indeed.

Keep doing what you do Willie!

Having that place for hunters or lost hikers could be a lifesaver!

Awesome kindness and attitude towards the whole situation.

Those people are just criminals and should be treated as such.

Right up there with terrorist in my book......

If you want it, earn it!

Keep up the good fight Willie.

Thieves taking the TV, Appliances and such I understand, they want it or sell it but WTF they going to do with the FIRE WOOD from the front porch!?!...JJ

Thanks for sharing. What a low life.  It's hard to believe that people who hike and go into the woods would do that. I have always found people who hike and share the great outdoors to be helpful and generous.

I'm happy to see you will forgive the first time. And pray there is no second time.

Then he went up the chimney himself, the old liar, and the last thing he took was the log for their fire. On their walls, he left nothing but hooks and some wire. And the one speck of food that he left in the house was a crumb that was even too small for a mouse...JJ

Yeah, that had me scratching my head too.... We're in the middle of a forest, there's hardwood everywhere. It's not like it's hard to get or you pay a premium for it.

Willie, you are a Righteous Dude, my friend!  Great attitude about the whole thing...I'm sure I woulda blown a gasket!  Sorry you lost your stuff, but good on ya for not allowing this sad incident to change you!

Points for looking out for your fellow man...even when he doesn't deserve it!

Sorry bout your misfortune, unfortunately in today's times, no good deed goes unpunished. I'm sure the people that needed it were greatful and karma will take care of those who weren't.

Update:

I got a call today and the Constable said they had recovered my HAM radio and the generator. He also stated that they had a lead on the people that took all the other stuff. He also stated that I could come by the station and pick my stuff up the next time I was up there.

It seems a Good Samaritan responded to an ad for a CB radio and saw that it was a HAM radio, suspected it was stolen and notified the Constable. The Constable investigated and, well, somebody's in trouble.

Had the same thing happen to my brothers Cabin many years ago in the Pocono mountains. We left the door unlocked too, so nobody would break the door down.

One of our neighbor cabins painted all his appliances wild red, yellow, green, etc colors so nobody could hock them if they stole them.

Then he braced the center of the floor, poured 6" of concrete in a frame, and put heavy angle iron in the concrete. Then he welded his wood stove to those angles.

Nobody ever stole any of his stuff. LOL  Too much work!!!

Good to hear they have a lead. Now have the Prosecutor make the Perp's cut and split a Cord of Wood and stack it on the porch before incarceration!
