If anyone needs a great way to cook  a bunch of turkey in a UDS this worked very well.   I have a ring that sits snug in the top of the drum for hanging situations.    It's set up for 3 rods so today I spatchcocked, injected and hung them one on each rod.  The cook didn't take long at all and came out fantastic.     Happy ThanksGiving!

LOL, that's the only way I can beat you Case,  if I'm not competing with you !   [IMG]             Hope you had a good Thanksgiving Case and BTW I would have loved to cook in all the snow!!!   It's a blast for me and kind of like an adventure. [IMG]

Thanks, It's gonna be my go2  method for big cooks for things like turkey, chicken, ribs etc..    A couple weeks ago I was doing quarters 26 at a time on it that came out really well
Thanks Foam we had 5 birds so enough for leftovers too!    Our family loves the take home containers.    Happy belated turkey day!
Thanks Steve, it was pretty much a 325-340* cook and went about 2 1/2 hours.   One I pulled a little early and put skin side down over a wood fired grill I use and that was tasty too, the skin made for good snack food. lol
Thanks tropics, It sure seemed good judging by the families reactions!

Do you have a better pic of how you installed the rods? I think some folks could benefit from this idea, not only for turkey's, but other items as well.

As for the troll, don't feed it and it will go away.

    LOL I tried!

Yes here's a better pic, they can be made but I happened to find some wine barrel rings....at least I think they were.    The bigger diameter side barely fits inside the drum so it holds very snug which  I'm glad because I didn't want to drill any more holes for bolts.   Then I just notched them out with a grinder and drilled holes around the perimeter for more exhaust and more even heat. What I like is the rods just lift out with the food.    I could see doing 18 or so racks of BB ribs.  I'l have to get the pic of 26 chicken quarters later because it's on someone else's camera.

When I'm done using it I just insert a rebar rod in a exhaust hole and pop it back out.

That's one of the ugliest smokers I've ever seen. I'm surprised you can get any good results at all. If you need some help, tips or pointers just let me know!

I know Case....I'm really struggling between ugly cookers that don't work and putting out subpar food.   People have been humoring me as to the quality of my food....dang I wish they'd just be honest [IMG]   How else am I going to learn ...ya know?

Maybe I should have tried stacking mini's 10' high but I didn't want to bother you on Thanksgiving Day and all to get your expertise. ;)       I'll make a new years resolution to surround myself with better quality cooks and pitmasters and less rookies!     I'm just making rookie mistakes so please bear with me. [IMG]

Great idea on how you did it. If you don't have an issue, I'll send some of your pics over to a friend of mine. I told him what you did and he liked the idea.

He has an ugly a55 smoker too. We humor him as well. We humor him so much, that he's the dedicated cook at fish camp!

Not many fish smoked at our camp. Here in Texas, we don't have the fish camps like one would find in the NE or NW.

What I call fish camp, is where 4 of us bought lake lots next to each other and all go there to fish all night and keep certIn Canadian Distilleries in business. The smoker is to make sure our hangovers, I mean lack of sleep, is fed well! :sausage:

However, I could see some salmon or trout suspended on smoke racks and rocking in that UDS!
