Hello all, my name is Steve. I have been browsing the forums for a few weeks and decided it is probably time to post something. I am not much of a poster, but enjoy reading all of the stuff you all post, especially the Qview.
I have owned a WSM since 2002 and am a fair weather smoker mostly. I don't enjoy shoveling the Iowa snows to get to the WSM, so it is mostly used in the summer. I plan on purchasing a Horizon 20" Classic in the near future and came across the forum while searching out some user reviews.
In college (early 90's) I was a bartender at a restaurant that had some pretty good smoked food on the menu and the owner also sold Oklahoma Joes smokers and rubs. He also did a few competitions and I helped him set up occasionally, so I have seen a bit of the competition side of things. I enjoyed the food and have been interested since then.
Seeing all the awesome stuff you all cook has gotten me even more excited about getting a new smoker! I may even have to break it when the winter.
