Hello, my name is Joe and I live in Sinking Spring, PA outside of Reading. About 3 years ago my wife and I attended a rib class at a local BBQ place, called TastyLiks BBQ Supply. Fred is great and we have been back for a few more classes.
I started doing ribs on my Weber Genesis E300 gas grill, turning tow of the burners off and putting a small smoke box on the lit burner. I want to get away from using my Weber and add a smoker for ribs, butt and brisket, just not sure which way to go. Funds are tight with the wife out of work for the past 4 years so I would like to keep it under $300. I was looking at a Masterbuilt electric one but with not having a covered deck to use it I was worried about it being out if the weather turns bad and cooking with electric. I am open for suggestions which way to go and open for ideas.
On a person note, I just turned 57 and have been married for 27 years and have two really great daughters. Have done a lot of things but for the past 25+ years I have worked in the network side of IT. Thanks for looking and I hope to learn from all of you.
