hey guys, im a total smoking noob. tomorrow im going to take a shot at some baby backs. i have them  rubbed down and sitting in the fridge now. im wondering if anyone can give me any pointers as to how long to cook and at what temp? also like i said i have them rubbed down but i was also going to put alittle sauce on toward the end. is this ok to do and leave in the smoker to get them a bit sticky? should i take the water tray out after i put the sauce on? thanks guys any info would be appreciated. :)

search 3-2-1 method

sauce at the one hour left mark is ok, maybe alittle about 15 min from end also

use the search function and you will find tons of info. There's no one correct way to do it so you have to just pick a method, do it, and take notes of everything you did and learn from it. Then try again and do something a little different and see what happens. Whatever you do, don't invite all of your friends over to watch you learn how to smoke while they starve..

On baby backs you want to use 2-2-1, 2 hours smoked, 2 hours smoked foiled, then last hour un-foiled to firm them back up.  I also spritz mine at the hour mark with apple juice. When I foil them a spray a good amt of apple juice o them.Good luck but I am sure they will be great and remember qview

guys my apologies. i just realized how many times similar threads to this there are. i did alittle searching and came up with all the info i need. thanks for your time.

no apology necessary here.. Even with the search it can be difficult to find the exact answer to whatever question you may have. The best , woods etc..thing to do is read some posts and look for the the same info to show up. You will see a trend of times, processes, rubs, etc. After a while you will see the basic idea of smoking ribs.
