Hello, my name is Tony and I've been lurking around for a while, and find myself coming to this forum almost every day, I keep finding great info. As soon as I have a free weekend I definitely want to start a UDS build, I already found a barrel. Anyways, I have really enjoyed this forum so far and can't wait to star adding some build pics and qview.

Welcome to SMF Tony. I prefer Anthony myself as that is my name as well. I love that Avatar. Sweet. Glad to see that you have decided to build yourself a UDS. I love my WSM 22.5 but think the concept is sound. MES, GOSM, ECB, Lang, Char Broil & Char Grillers, (forgive me if I left someone out), will all swear by their smokers. Soon, you will swear by yours. Congrat's on your choice, good luck on your build & looking forward to seeing your qview. Enjoy your stay here.

have to agree, i think we all swear a bit by our smokers, maybe even more after some adult beverages!!!biggrin.gif

and heck, i practically have that whole list, cept for the lang and the char griller. plus some others besides... if you are going to compare them to one another then they will all have their pros and cons...

Welcome to the forum, and you hail from New Braunfels... aint that where the NB's originated from???

Thanks for the hospitality everyone. They used to make the New Braunfels Smokers here, but now I think they are made in Georgia by Char-Broil, I assume that's what NB's are, still learning the lingo, but i guess we all know what happens when you assume

Howdy and welcome aboard from Bandera! New Braunfels was great place to live if you could dodge the tourists (kinda like here), I lived there for 5 years. I knew a Tony in New Braunfels, but I bet there's more than one!

Yes, the New Braunfels smokers started off being made there, being made out of pipe in an old garage behind the now-defunct Keno's BBQ by the underpass. I still have one of their smaller pipe pits that I got about 1988. Both the town and the pits have changed a lot in the last 20+ years.

How to post Qview to Forum:

When you uploading to Photobucket I always use the Large IMG setting, 640 x 480 it is a nice size...

Everyone here enjoys seeing the Qview so be sure to post plenty of pics...

Large ones that us old people with bad eyes can see.

Welcome Tony!!!tongue.giftongue.giftongue.gif

I, too, am a newbie and you are in the right place my friend! These folks are the nicest and most knowledgeable pitmasters! I have learned so much from them in the short time I have been a member, and even when I ask the "blondest" questions they are so gentle in the replies! LOL! If they can help me my brutha, you will do just fine!

First off welcome Tony to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are abunch of good folks here that would just love to help you out with just about anything to do with smoking. We really like to have newbies here because they can bring in a new propective to how things are done. There's nothing like a new set of eyes to give and new way to make things that little differant to make things alittle better. So I hope you know about the Qview here.
Here's a link to photobucket it's free and easy to download pictures. Then if your really new to smoking Look up the E-course.
It's also free and it will give you the basics of smoking. So after all of that you just need to go grab something to smoke and if you have any question just post them here and we will answer it quickly so you don't have any mishaps with your smoke.
Welcome To Your New Addiction
