Noob from Grapevine, TX

Hello All!

My name is Steve and I live in Grapevine, Texas.

I've been a lurker on SMF for over a year. I bought a MES for Christmas 2008, and have been smoking every since.

I've really caught the smoking bug, and have tried many of the recipes on this website. I also like to read the Forums for advice, which is much appreciated. I finally decided to register so I could be part of the community.

I think my brisket and chicken is very good for someone of my skill level. My pulled pork leaves something to be desired, which led me back to SMF this morning.

My neighbors love my new habit. Whenever they smell the smoke, they "just happen" to mosey over for a chat. My standard line is "dinner is at 6pm! BYOB!"

This last Thanksgiving I smoked my first turkey with help from this site. It was a huge success. My wife said she was never baking another turkey in her life!

Anyway, thanks for letting me be part of the community.

Yeah, the only time I've seen the inside of a jail was in Grapevine, for an unpaid speeding ticket. My mom had to bail me out. I was 27. Not a pleasant experience. PDT_Armataz_01_33.gif

welcome aboard steve, if you do good in brisket you will probally start doing good in pulled pork being the process is simular. my problem with the pulld pork in the beginng was not lettingit get to pulling temp, just did not have the patience, heck i was taking the fun out of smoking!! the right rub and the temp and a good piece of meat and pulled pork is hard to beat.
good smok'n from rick in ga.
