Hello from Minnesota

Hi everyone,

New to the forum, but have been smoking the last several years. Started out with a Brinkman stack water smoker and now using a modded Char Griller offset. Looking to move up to a vertical smoker or possibly a trailer pit? I love cooking for friends and coming up with new recipes.

Here is a picture of my modded Char. I can not take credit for the mods, but do love the look and way it works.

First off welcome Mark to SMF. What part of Florida cause I'm in the jacksonville area and there are some of us near tallehassee too. You'll like it here cause there are abunch of good folks here that would just love to help you out with just about anything to do with smoking. We really like to have newbies here because they can bring in a new propective to how things are done. There's nothing like a new set of eyes to give and new way to make things that little differant to make things alittle better. So I hope you know about the Qview here.
Here's a link to photobucket it's free and easy to download pictures. Then if your really new to smoking Look up the E-course.
It's also free and it will give you the basics of smoking. So after all of that you just need to go grab something to smoke and if you have any question just post them here and we will answer it quickly so you don't have any mishaps with your smoke.
Welcome To Your New Addiction

Wow, what nice greetings from everyone. Thank you.

I live between Mankato and Faribault, about 45 minutes south of Minneapolis.
I have no intentions of comp cooking, just cooking for friends and maybe in time do some small catering jobs? I would like to smoke more for fun and an hobby than anything. I'm saving nickles and pennies to go towards possibly a Stumps or a good quality smoker. These Minnesota days makes it hard to keep constant temps going in my Char. Plus, I would like more grate area. Just recently I've been headed in the direction of more side dishes to compliment the main meats. I have some BBQ beans down pretty well, but next up are the ABT's and possibly try a fatty? The pictures on this site make me hungry all the time..

Looking forward to getting to know you all a little better.

Best part, the wheels really work when I go across grass or uneven gravel to set up out of the wind. The thing rolls real easy.
