Brand Newbie in WI

Thread Starter
I've loved BBQ all my life, but never thought of making my own until Thanksgiving of 2008 when my wife's uncle smoked a turkey. That experience (and subsequent BBQ meals at his house) started me on the road to Q obsession. To date that obsession has been limited to reading (lurking on this site), drooling over recipes and Qviews, researching smokers, etc...basically everything except actually smoking!

Then this Christmas I received a gift card to Gander Mountain...and neatly printed across it's face were the words "for a smoker". Apparently my family wants this obsession to turn into some real food :) Yesterday I visited GM and found a Browning Smoke Vault on clearance...it has received good reviews on this site, so it'll be in my garage tonight. With luck I'll try my first smoke next week (pray it warms up a little...we're in single digit temps currently)

Wish me luck as I take those early steps towards Q nirvana. I look forward to the learning and sharing that this site offers!
