I love this stuff and seeing how it's Oktoberfest I made some up . You can go alot of different ways with this recipe but I like to keep it simple. I want the dominant flavor to be the sauerkraut.

I started out by simmering a ham bone I had left over from a picnic ham in a pot of water for 3 to 4 hours until it was a nice broth.

Cut up and put in crock pot:
3to 4 medium carrots
3 to 4 stalks celery
1 medium onion
4 medium red potatos ( I left the skins on)
1 ring polksa keilbasa sausage
1 32oz bag Franks sauerkraut partailly drained. (I use the bag stuff you find in the deli refrigerated section) better than the canned imo.
cbp to your liking and salt to your liking

Pour your broth over the crock pot ingredients and cook all day.

Looks and sounds great! I've got a batch of kraut still fermenting... I'll definately give your soup a try. Thank you for the recipe!

Nice looking soup, bet it is tasty.

Looks & Sounds Great...

I like Sauerkraut and Polish Sausage anyway so that would just be a new variation...

That soup sounds good but unfortuniely after a recent trip to Germany we didn't see any kraut soup but we did get some sauerkraut out of a wooden keg that was really good too.

Very nice looking soup there, and that recipe looks great! Never tried Frank's refrigerated deli 'kraut, but now I will. I've always loved canned 'kraut, so if this is better, well then hi ho! This is the season for soups.

I had to try this after seeing it. Didn't have a ham bone to make broth so I used a couple cans of beef broth. Came out way better than I expected and will certainly do it this again during the winter.
