Hello from L.A.

Hello Pit People!

Ever since a trip to the Salt Lick (just outside of Austin) when I was 14, the day I first reached that special place in the cosmos only reachable via mouthful of holy brisket bark, I have been a bona fide BBQ fanatic. It is only until recently, after securing a beat-up smoker through Craigslist, that I can now fully realize my passion by cooking my own Q.

I have since nursed my smoker -- a horizontal with offset firebox -- back to health and am looking forward to using it often, and with your help, using it well.

I have already spoken to some of you and look forward to meeting more.

So until then, peace, and good Q.

There is a ton of good information floating around in here

We are all here to help in any way we can, feel free to ask questions
just remember the only stupid question is the one you didn't ask.

If you can give us the specs and maybe some pictures of your rig, maybe some of us can offer advice on Modifications you can make to really fine tune it. Plenty of folks on here that have done Mods on off set fire boxes

Good Luck and Happy Smokes.

Salt Lick is AWESOME BBQ, glad I live so close and wish I could afford to go more often
