My neighbors think I'm crazy!! But she's already a beauty!

It is hard to find drums in Germany, at least close by. Most have sealed tops and have oil in them or are too expensive.

I lucked out and found 2 drums with lids, got both for $30. Both had orange syrup in them and liners.

I decided to go with 3 intake vents. 3/4 ball valves

U.S size nuts are nearly impossible to find, so a friend welded the threads to the drum.

Sheets of expanded metal are very expensive. Smaller pieces can be bought at most "Home Depot" style stores.

Excellent build, meat looks good also, I am having a heck of a time finding 55gal. drums that didn't have some kind of petroleum based product in them, I must keep on looking, gotta build me 1 or 2

Great job on the drum and the brisket looks yummo too. Where are you in Germany cause we are visting our son and his family in wiesbaden till next thrusday. You did a great job with your first smoke is that your first over all smoke or your first on the drum?

Thanks to all for the comments. Gonna build another drum soon!

I live near Trier (close to the German, Luxemburg & Belgian borders).
This was my first UDS smoke. I've been doing "real" BBQ for 4 years. Sad to say but I used to be a "meat boiler", until I saw the light.

Great look UDS build. I am on the look out for a good barrel and top.

Food looked great.

I really like it. Low fuel consumption and temps stay steady. Should have built one along time ago.
