Hey everyone out there in SMF land! I've been following Jeff and his monthly online article for quite some time, and finally had time to check out this forum.

About me - my motto is, "If it ain't smok'en, I ain't cook'en"! I've been Q'n for most of my life, and the fun for me is building and trying different gadgets that I've been introduced to mostly in hunting camps. I've got my "Barrel-Q" which comes from a crazy bunch in California who specialize in Tri-Tips (a cut I haven't heard too much of you officianodo's talk about), my Cajun Microwave from, you guessed it, Louisiana, and a whole lot of other contraptions that I've built.

My latest is a converted coal stoker to smoker! Still working out the bugs, but I think this one may make all of my other prize BBQ equipment obsolete.

I've rattled on enough - but in closing, I gotta figure out this OTBS thing! I'm hoping someone can give me the history on that - what a cool idea, and sounds like a prized award I hope to get my hands on.

Hi Tracey,
Glad to have you join us. Sounds like you'll be able to share lots of tips with us. Hoping you'll post some pictures of your smoker arsenal.

There's a whole section dedicated to the OTBS (Order of the Thin Blue Smoke) here's a link to the nomination criteria.

Sounds like with your experience, if you stick around and share your experiences you'll make a fine addition to the OTBS

Welcome to SMF, Tracey. Glad you joined us. Tri tips seem to be a west coast cut, very hard to find here on the east coast.

Hello Tracey, and welcome to the SMF. Tri Tip is one of my fav cuts, especially when smoked/ghrilled using red oak as in Santa Maria Tri Tip. It's all good my friend.

W.A.L.L.E. Pictures

Attached are pictures of WALLE. If you have kids, you recognize the name, and when you look at the pictures you will understand why my wife immediately named my latest invention WALLE!
I looked it up, and in Pixar it means Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth class... or in wife - More of Tracey's BBQ !@#$..!

Name fit, and stuck to my new smoker.
I'll get some pictures of it smok'en!

First off welcome to SMF. Your gonna like it here cause there are alot of good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smokin. Next I think you should look up the E-course it's free and very informative and it will show you the basics of smoking. Then check this out
It will show you how to post Qview (pictures) and we like that so we can see what your smoking with and what your smoking. So go get something to smoke.
