I seasoned my new barrel pit the other day and cooked on it today for the first time. I did chicken and other than getting use to a few things such as the temperature control and probably cracking the lid more than I should to see how things progressed, I can now pronounce myself happy with this pit.

Thanks to all who posted pictures of barrel pits, whether store bought or homemade as I surely borrowed ideas, mostly for the intakes and the charcoal basket.

That is an awesome looking post with excellent q-vue! Hope the pup gets some for guarding the smoker. I can imagine the taste of the chicken, as we speak ... YUM !!!
