Hello all. I am so new I dont even have a smoker. I've played with my weber kettle which I've had for years with lighter cuts and small birds, but its time to do some real cookin. I love to grill but never ventured into actual smoking. I went and had some local BBQ for lunch today and spoke with the owner, an older german fella who fell in love with BBQ 30 years ago. Boy was he excited to tell me about his experiences. He just had a passion that lit a little fire in me. Heck I might be the who is smokin. To say the least he got me a little excited about BBQ. With that said what would be a good place to start besides this great forum?PDT_Armataz_01_36.gif

Hi there TM and welcome to the smf. You have found a great place to get you off to a good start. Have a good look around all the forums, read the posts. Definitely do the 5 day course.

There is a warning though. Once you get into smoking foods and this website you'll find they are both very addictive.

Have fun and enjoy.

Welcome to SMF. This is THE place to start. Check out Jeff's 5 day E course. Its free and has great info for everyone to use. Not just newby's. After that, I would suggest checking out the threads about the different types of smokers to try to decides what type would be best for your situations and needs.

Welcome to SMF TM. Warning the is no known cure for this addiction. You can only satisfy your urge with more smoked food. Soon every thing you see will cause you to envision ways to smoke it. You will find the folks here packed full of smoke knowledge and just itching to share with you.

Welcome to the SMF!! I started on a Kettle too.....they can produce some mighty fine smoked meat, so don't feel like you have to run out and buy something else right away. I bought a Smokenator to assist me with the Weber and that really works great too. If you need some ideas to figure out how to get more meat on a Weber let me know...I have some pics floating around here.
