I have a ecb gourmet electric smoker if I take out the electric coil can i use it as a charcoal smoker. I'm sure i can but just to be safe i thought i'd ask.

not sure bout the electric I have ecb's 1 I added a hot plate the other i use coal-I think u would need a pan& grate for your coals-and why the switch?

Yup, I might toss some sand in the bottome to help protect that a bit, then a pan and grate like desertlites says. Might have to give her a bit more air too, just to make sure you have complete combustion.

I just wanted to see if it would hold the heat longer then my other ecb
