Just in from MN...

Thread Starter
Just found this forum and immeadiatley joined. I have been grilling for quite sometime but never really smoked. I have had a Brinkman Smoke 'N Pit (horizontal version) for a number of years but never smoked anything in it. I used it primarily for grilling large amounts of chicken or steaks.
Now I would like to start the smokin' aspect of it.
I know about temperature control and how to do it using charcoal. Even when I grill "low and slow" is my motto.
I am particularly interested in learning how to do baby back ribs, beef brisket and pulled pork. I need to learn about wood types to use, how much charcoal compared to wood, soak the wood or don't soak the wood, meat prep etc etc.
Is the 5 day e course a good starting point? Does it apply to the type of smoker I have?
Thanks in advance. Looks like a lot of great information to be had here.
