I have been grilling on a Weber kettle BBQ for a long time and I am interested in trying out smoking the meat. Tomorrow I am going to try my hand at a couple racks of ribs and see how it goes.

Rene, Welcome to SMF. If you don't yet have a smoker, fear not for you are not without an alternative. There is a way to smoke meat on a weber kettle, in fact, I've done some of my best smokes on a weber kettle. If you're interested, ask me how.

Thanks for the great welcome. My first smoke experience went quite well for the most part. I had some difficulty controlling the air intake so the ribs cooked a little hotter than they should have therefore cooked a little faster. Nevertheless they did come out tasting great and were tender. The whole family loved them. Now I am hooked and I am in the marker for a smoker.

Try a pulled pork. Great cut of meat to learn on. It is a bit more forgiving so that you can learn how your smoker works and learn temp control and yet produce a nice piece of meat
